Marjolein Heymans has completed her Bachelor and Master in Biology at the faculty of Sciences of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in 2014. The major of her master focused on Animal Physiology and Neurobiology. She did her master thesis and research internship at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK-CEN) in Belgium.
In February 2016 she started a PhD at LBHE at the Jean Perrin Faculty of Science in Lens (Université d’Artois) under the directions of associate professor Dr. Fabien GOSSELET and associate professor Dr. Maxime CULOT. The PhD is part of the European Training Network Brain Barriers Training (BtRAIN) and is focused on the function of the blood brain barrier in development, health, ageing and disease.
